Courses

Professional Diploma in Applied Transpersonal Psychology

The Crucible Centre is pleased to offer a Profesional Diploma in Applied Transpersonal Psychology. This Course has met with all the standards and training requirements of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) to be recognised as an ACA approved Counsellor Training Course.

Aim of the Course

To provide a professional course in Applied Transpersonal Psychology with a skills-based training within a clear theoretical and ethical foundation that enables graduates to practice in a transformative manner.

Our aim is to train the best possible therapists to support those who want to discover their own inner nature. There are two goals in therapy as we conceive it – to mature and clarify a person's behaviour and relationships and to open the road to self-discovery.

Similarly, there are two goals in transpersonal work – the search within to the dynamic origins of ourselves, and without, to the expanse of subtle realms of vibration that we call soul and spirit.

This professional course has been designed to provide this profound transpersonal training.

Professional Certificate in Sandplay Facilitation

Nested within the Diploma course is Professional Certificate in Sandplay Facilitation.

What is Sandplay?

Sandplay presents issues and desires in a direct manner that is more clarifying than any other medium. Small pieces and figures from the shelves around the room are place in the Sandtray. The choice, arrangement and relationship express very deep unconscious and psychic process. As it is the unconscious on display, the depth of understanding in the client can be profound. With appropriate facilitation the presentation in the sand can lead to the deepest changes at all levels of a client's being.
H. G. Wells and Carl Jung may be the exploratory originators, both just after 1910. Twenty years later Margaret Lowenfeld published her use of sandplay with children, and in the 50s one of Jung's pupils, Dora Kalff, brought his work and Lowenfeld's together. Kalff later extended the use of sandplay from children to adults.
Her work aimed to safeguard the spontaneous character of the sandplay experience by leaving the process to work in its own time through the client's psyche. We operate in a more interventionist manner that supports clients to discover, for themselves and without being told, those meanings disclosed in the sand that they are able to comprehend and integrate. We have called this Active sandplay.

General

Our courses are mainly experiential, with some theory and handouts so that you can do most of your academic studies at home.

In this way we are able to offer greater flexibility than any other course. You may commence the course at any time during the year. The work is self-paced and, within limits, you may attend only those workshops that best suit your needs.

The length of study is adjusted to your prior life experiences and qualifications. Thus a counsellor with wide experience and training could reduce the normal time required by up to forty percent, while those without prior degrees would have to attend additional trainings and studies.

The Crucible Centre previously had approval for a Graduate Diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy through the Dept of Higher Education however we dropped that due to the prohibative cost that the Dep't imposed for re-registration. From that point we search for approval of a course at the same level of learning but where it could be made affordable, keeping in mind that we are a small business not a large business with the resources that a university would have. We found such a body that was credible and affordable to us, viz The Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

The following is an extract from ACA's website:

"The Australian Counselling Association (ACA) is a National progressive professional peak association of counsellors and psychotherapists with over 2500 individual members.

Current Member Associations (MA) are: Federation of Victorian Counsellors Inc, Federation of Psychotherapists & Counsellors of Queensland Inc, New South Wales Counselling Association Inc, Professional Counsellors Association of Western Australia Inc and Clinical Counsellors Association Inc. Affiliated Member Associations of ACA include Professional Counsellors Association (Singapore), Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists and Professional Clinical Hypnotherapists of Australia.

The ACA is primarily concerned with industry standards, creating employment for counsellors, health fund rebates and formal recognition of counsellors. ACA is an independent association that offers member services and benefits second to none.  ACA is the "voice of counsellors" ".

The pleasing part about this for our students is that we can continue to offer the same high level of professional teaching, at an affordable rate, wheras they can go out and be registered with a State and National professional organisation that is recogniosed so that they themselves can practice as psychotherapists/counsellors in the community.

We welcome and appreciate the help that ACA have given us.

Please contact us to obtain an application form (RPL). We welcome your enquires.
