How The Crucible Centre deals with
depression, stress and anxiety
There is a deep-seated conflict between our desires and the reality of life. When this gets too great we normally grieve or rage. In our society there is little room for either.
Our attitude to depression is unusual, as most people will tell you that depression is complicated, and that the symptoms are very difficult to treat. We can tell you only of our experiences, which are that we have treated depression with success.
The reasons lie in the causes of depression, which we set out below. These are rooted in doubts about what we are here for, about failed ambitions and loss of happiness, and having little real knowledge of who we are.
We can work privately with you, and (more effectively) in group workshops.

What are the causes of depression?
1. The myelination of cells in the brain occurs at around 11 and 21 years of age. These purely physical events set our dreams and potential into their final chosen form. This is when the accumulation of childhood responses become fixed and our ways and beliefs set in concrete so we no longer adapt easily. See The Great Field.
2. From then on we know we have lost an essential part of ourselves, and begin to long for its return. This makes it easy to stop loving ourselves. Our grief is usually hidden. Its loss drives us to unhappiness and depression, but also powers our search for the true self.
3. What most of us want from life is happiness. We want to get on with life without being upset by our own miseries. Life should be simple, flowing easily from the nature of the moment. Most of us would be deeply happy were we to achieve such straightforwardness with few unsatisfied needs to burden us.
4. This is the main impetus in human societies - yet after thousands of years it has not been achieved by most.
5. Why is it so hard to change this? We are taught that mind is more important than heart, yet thousands of years of preaching has not made an ounce of difference. The mind cannot change the emotional body because it was set into its patterns at 11 and 21. The mind cannot over-rule feelings.
6. So what can we do? We have to clear out the rubbish before we can become a clear pipe for the flow of life. Only then will we be open to happiness. This is what The Crucible Method offers.
Our work offers a real chance of altering the myelination
that shut the door on change.
We can change these through consciousness. This is the major role of Sandplay and Voice Dialogue. Please contact us to find out more.
Define and narrow me
You starve yourself of yourself.
Nail me down in a box of cold words,
That box is your coffin. I do not know who I am.
I am in astounding lucid Confusion.
