WHO ARE WE?

The Crucible Centre provides high quality care in personal development counselling services by way of workshops that's helps its clients change and grow within themselves.

The Crucible Centre also offers training for new and full time counsellors in wholistic counselling skills such as Wholistic Psychology, Sandplay, Voice Dialogue and Energetic Processing, Reiki and is at the cutting edge of developing the experiential training of these skills.

The Crucible Centre is highly regarded for its innovative approach to counselling. The work connects you to the body, soul & emotions so you will feel whole again.

Some of the reasons why a person might come to The Crucible Centre include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, those who want to change direction in life, feeling empty and alone, finding it difficult to make decisions, want to change patterns and beliefs but don't know how. Also grief and loss, those who have had a trauma in their life and cant move past it. The Crucible Centre is also for those who want to understand the deeper meaning in life and have connection with soul.

The Crucible Centre provides the best and safest environment for its client to change and grow so that issues are cleared quickly in a healing way.

A client recently wrote "…. "I have been seeing therapists for many years. If I put all of what I have learnt from them in one basket it would not equal what I have learnt from you in one workshop about myself."

Another "…. I barely have words to allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude to you. I have done quite a few workshops with you now and each time I leave feeling amazed and grateful for the time I spend with you. Your presence in my life is something I hold to be sacred. I feel safe and totally trust you as I go through this journey. I feel so blessed that my soul has brought me to you-I shudder to think where I would be if I hadn't trusted myself to follow this. I want to honour the work you have done in your journey, your teaching, gifts and love."

And from an overseas visitor "….. Just a note to say thank you so much for the brilliant weekend. As a result *** and I are undergoing a quantum shift in our relationship, which we are both extremely happy about. Your sandplay work is the best I've experienced, and your insightful and compassionate support reflected a depth of soulful, loving kindness that is rare. I'm sure we'll be doing more with you in the future. Even though I've always had a marvellous professional supervision and support network I now realise that I needed, especially at this time of great change and challenge for me, a supportive process that could help me clarify and integrate the cascade of experience that presents itself. So, once again, synchronicity displays itself once again as a window into the mystery; I found your ‘crucible' the perfect vessel to help me transform some lead into gold.

So if you really want to move on in your life come and visit The Crucible Centre. Your soul and spirit will be ever greatful.

Teaching Directors Marg Garvan, Hilary James and John James

John James OAM & Hilary James

John James is a PhD and a world authority on gothic architecture. John was awarded an OAM for "For service to architecture as a practitioner, educator and historian, particularly as a leading scholar on French Gothic architectural history" on 26 January 2008. On his journey (which is available in full through his personal website) he began with his wife Hilary, to study sandplay with Dr Patrick Jensen and Breathwork with Ahara Carisbrooke. You might say that John and Hilary were then hooked and then went to America to study Voice Dialogue with Dr Hal Stone and Essence Retrieval created by Dr Hamid Ali.

Hilary James has a BA and Grad Dip in Transpersonal Psychotherapy. John, amongst a long list of qualifications, also has a Grad Dip in Transpersonal Psychotherapy.

They have travelled extensively overseas for long spells. Living in other cultures (Europe, West Africa, Bali, US, etc) has given them a deep understanding of the problems faced by many overseas clients.

From 1984-95 they operated a B & B at Leura in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney as well as doing their inner work. In 1994 the ABC program COMPASS interviewed them. It was as a result of that program that Marg Garvan made contact with them.

John encapsulated his core understanding of the inner journey to wholeness and individuation in Notes to Transformation, a little book with a deep wisdom on how we may all learn to live better and fuller lives.

John and Hilary moved to their property at Harley Vale in 1996 and opened The Crucible Centre where they expanded the psychotherapy and sandplay training courses they had been providing at Leura.

In 1999 John, Hilary, Marg and her husband Michael, formed a partnership that is The Crucible Centre Pty Ltd today.

Marg Garvan

Marg Garvan has a B Soc Sc (Welfare) and Grad Dip in Transpersonal Psychotherapy. In 1990 Marg began studying in welfare. She worked in various welfare jobs from Neighbourhood Centres to Community Justice to Prisons. In 1996 she opened the Thora Healing and Counselling Centre, which she operated for seven years whist running the Thora General Store with her husband Michael.

After the Store was sold Marg opened the Richmond Wholistic Counselling Centre (RWCC) at Richmond NSW (see link page) which has proved to be very successful.

Marg's passion is Psychotherapy and Counselling, especially through Energetic Healing. Her methods in this field are developing faster than she can write about at the moment, but a book is on the list of essential things to do. A measure of her success in this field is that you have to book three to four weeks in advance to see her. Some clients are making appointments up to ten weeks ahead to ensure that they do not miss out.

Michael, Marg's husband, worked in the banking industry for 26 years then went on to run a general store at Thora NSW. Michael has the administrative role at the Crucible Centre and Ghandarva Wholistic Counselling Centre. His other interests are their Accommodation retreat (Ghandarva Retreat) at Bilpin, the Bilpin Rural Fire Brigade and V8 Supercars!
